Alumni of the Franklin Township Consolidated School in Cooper will have a “Hats Off!” salute to the school at a reunion Saturday, June 28, at the St Joseph Parish Center in Jefferson.
Graduates are reminded of saddle shoes, letter sweaters, class rings and hats. Alumnae are asked to bring a hat from their era of attendance at the school.
Members of the class of 1944 will be honored on the 70th anniversary of their high school graduation. There will be a hospitality time and a tribute to the veterans. Sharing of experiences during the 1940s and 1950s will continue following the meal.
In 1920, Franklin Township Consolidated School was one of 200 Iowa consolidated schools. The school closed 55 years ago, but reunions through the years have been well attended.
The “Hats Off!” reunion continues to enrich the friendships and to encourage sharing memories of those who attended the school. The contributions of artifacts, photographs, year books, newspaper articles and school newspapers are welcomed as the collection of the school’s history expands.
Persons who would like information about the reunion can contact Mary Anderson Richards at 515-386-4750. “Go, Cardinals!”
